About
John O’Connor has been involved with Cinematography since his early years, winning numerous independent video awards and creating his own production company – Dark Hope Productions in 2004 at the age of fifteen. O’Connor has a wide ranging knowledge of the daily operations of film and video from pre through post production. He is proficient at organizing, managing, editing, and working with camera crews where he is recognized as an effective leader and strong team player.
O’Connor is technically proficient with cameras ranging from Panavision Millennium, Canon 5D, RED, Alexa, Black Magic Design through Sony fs700. He owns a professional Steadycam rig.
O’Connor has been fortunate enough to train with Harry Mathias in Cinematography, Brad Wolfley in Post Production, Terry Borst in Screenwriting, and Hank Rogerson for On Set Production work. He received his BA degree in Cinematography from Santa Fe University of Art and Design (formerly College of Santa Fe) in May 2012.
O’Connor has been involved in a number of feature films including Thor, Cowboys and Aliens, True Grit, as well as short films including the award winning “The Brazilian”.
O’Connor devotes much of his free time to increasing his knowledge of the film industry, donating his time and energy to various independent projects. He currently has a number of feature length scripts in early development and a few shorts in production.
O’Connor is known for his strong work ethic, endless energy, passion for detail, enthusiasm, and fun loving personality. He is willing and able to travel or relocate as needed. He currently commutes between Breckenridge, Colorado and Burbank, California.
